HUNGRY CHICKEN

So usually I start out with a picture, and I’ve mostly been doing adventure time characters because their character sheets are so available, and having backs and fronts makes it so much easier for a person trying to design something three-dimensional. But uh, the Knitter wasn’t a character sheet, so I kept looking at Fernacular’s original post, actual pictures of Rohan, and some of his videos, and some of AskKnitter, because well, that person drew him a lot. I came up with a sketch to model the size of him correctly, so it can be seen right here:

I hope its obvious why I make clay, because my drawing skills are absolute shit, and it seems like not nearly as many people make 3d models, so hey, I’m not bad if there is no one to compare to, right?

So from there, I decided to work on the black tank top and the head piece, Which although can sometimes be really difficult to get the right shape the first time, I think I got the head  how I wanted it. 

Then came the oh so fun part of putting on the tank top, and then adding an arm, which initially looked about right, but I seemed to have failed at one of the original reasons I sketched this out first. 

You see, the arm was right with the Tank Top, but when I put the head on, it was obvious that the head was waaaaay too small, So I had to cut down the arms and tank top to fit right. 

Oh look at The Bald Knitter. Masks are so much easier than actual eyes, and surprisingly giving him a chin was an easier task than expecting. I thought in post about putting a needle between his teeth, but mouths are what I hate the most about all clay, because it so hard to work within a small space to add anything. Also, notice how the right arm is sort of bulging and huge out of the tank top. yeah, I fixed that by putting more shirt on him. Sorry Rohan, more clothes for you. You can also see to the left the little bits of arm amputations! YAY!

So here is the part that the Knitter gets hair! I looked at the original artwork to try to get the hair working, and then went a bit to askknitter, but I ultimately started watching Rohan’s videos again, mostly paying attention to his hair, and try to see the general shape.  Its kinda there, but I also feel like Rohan’s hair is a bit brighter than this/ original art work.  I just kept going with Fernacular’s choice of hair color though.

This is me putting bits of green on the reddish scarf. I think I got the colors down pretty well. 

At this point he’s almost done, and I want to go to sleep. But You’ll notice that he lacks fingers and needles, and thats mostly because fingers are evil, and I hate them. Characters without hands are a lot better, because fingers have barely any support, yet have to stand there as individual things. Oh well. 

And then TADA! He’s actually one of the bigger clay things I’ve made, and you’ll notice that he isn’t completely sitting down or standing up, he’s doing that half sitty thing when you don’t have a proper seat to sit on. I made a ball of yarn for him , and I’m hoping he appreciates it. And I guess in this shot you can see a lot of my other creations including FACELESS BULBASAUR, I hate him so much. But look at The Knitter, he looks happy :).

AHHH, Finally done and now I can share this and stuff. Its The Knitter! Tumblr’s own Super Villain (Ahem, Anti-Hero) , you can check “The Knitter” tag for lot of other art, or see the post collab of Robofillet’s modeling with needles and yarn, or Fernacular’s ability to imagine him as a DC Anti-Hero. Also, this is the first time I started to document my process for how I made my clay creation, so I might upload some of that to 2ssien later today, maybe. Just, prepare to be knitted guys.

Honestly I think the puns are one of the best things to come out of this whole debacle. 

You can’t have a super-villain without puns.

And then he just ignores ALL the rules of society and starts stabbing things with knitting needles and making minions and it’s great.

The thing I like about this one is that this is actually how all this Knitter business got started in the first place.
